What Goes On The Roadmap?

The Katapult Pro software roadmap has always been more of a concept than a concrete document. It has historically felt disingenuous to publish a document that we would throw out in a second if something more pressing presented itself.

Our core values require us to be flexible and to adapt to opportunities as they come up. Normally, this means prioritizing the pain points of our internal engineering team and our customers.

There's value in both sides of the spectrum:

  • declaring where our platform is going and why we are going there

  • seizing the opportunities that arise and responding to real pain

As we work hard to strike this balance, I thought it would be helpful to provide some context and the guiding principles behind Katapult Pro during this current season of development.

Not everything on the roadmap fits cleanly into these themes, but these stated priorities provide a sanity check that make sure our team's efforts are rowing in a direction that is best for Katapult and the industry.

Theme 1: Equip Users to Work ON the Process

Since 2016, we've done a great job building tools and supporting users to work IN the process. Tools and workflows help data collection, design, and delivery processes get more efficient and less painful. Working ON the process is how you level up those processes themselves. We think that Katapult Pro can help the industry improve existing processes through data/user/job organization tools, event/attribute tracking, and more. When Katapult Pro helps project managers understand how good, how fast, and how cheap their services are, they will become empowered to improve and differentiate their team from the competition.

Theme 2: Create and Organize Records that Have Long-Term Value

Data silos are a common problem for both electrical utilities and telecom providers. Good data collection won't be as valuable as good data retention and visibility moving forward. Reusing or refreshing data can be more cost-effective than re-collecting all data from scratch, and Katapult Pro needs to help users leverage this to create greater value for their customers.

Theme 3: Evolve Data Collection

There is abundant opportunity to explore and level up data collection for telecom attachments and other overhead distribution projects. Finding ways to leverage 360 photos, remote sensing, and other technologies into Katapult Pro workflows will help customers adapt to the unique constraints of their specific scope of work.
